Within Vice Media, Vice News acted as sort of an older, more mature sibling. The subject matter was still culturally relevant, but with the straight-forward sense of responsiblity of legacy journalism.  Still, I was known there as the “weird story guy.” A gathering of the flat-earth faithful wasn’t the strangest thing I ever pitched, but I knew we’d meet some great characters — and also speak to a larger story about misinformation, fanaticism, and the erosion of trust in science and institutions.
