Condé Nast Entertainment brought me in on a six-month contract to gin up ideas for the YouTube channels of GQ, Bon Appetit, and Epicurious. “Guys and food,” I thought. “I got this!” Oddly enough, my most winning contribution had to do with kids and culinary history. I know nothing about kids, and only a little about culinary history. So basically, an idiot walks into a room — is that how viral happens? Twenty-six million views later (on this video alone), a goofy idea of mine is now the brand’s most viral series.
