Within the rule-breaking antics of VICE Media, Vice News was pretty by the book. Still, I was known in the newsroom as the “weird story guy.”
As a producer, my beat was mostly tech, though I tended to think of it more as technology writ large — less breaking news about Meta or Apple, and more about how these new tools subtly change the ways people live and interact.
I won a couple of Emmy Awards for my work, which is an insane honor. But as a character-first storyteller, the biggest reward during my time on the show was meeting some of the most fascinating, generous, and occasionally confounding people I’ve ever encountered.
